Name:
'Pirate Hunter' Roronoa Zoro
Age:
19
Species:
Human
Allegiance:
Monkey D. Luffy
Occupation:
Pirate, Swordsman, 1st Mate of the Strawhats.
Goals:
To be the Greatest Swordsman in the World and make sure Luffy becomes the Pirate King.
Personality:
Zoro is a very... independent character with a strong sense of pride. He normally has a stern, distanced personality, however, he loses his temper in a goofy and exaggerated manner. He has a strong sense of reason in terms of leadership. Whether or not he agrees with Luffy's decisions, he will follow them without hesitation due to his trust in his captain, and will only step in if it seems too dangerous and the others fail to realize that.
Regardless of that, he has a tendency to make rash decisions, and even considered cutting off his own arm or Usopps when chained together in Enies Lobby. He also has a terrible sense of direction, being known to get lost even on a straight path. He loves alcohol and can never get drunk due to his high tolerance to it.
He is a very lazy person commonly sleeping when not training with his weights or swords, but possesses inhuman strength and stamina, shown to have lifted up a large portion of a building with his bare hands and remain fighting even after losing a large amount of blood. He is very vigorous and will not stop fighting to achieve his goals. He makes very rash decisions, and has more enemies then any of the Straw Hats. When he plans to fight seriously, he ties his black banana atop his head.
Along with his strength and stamina, he has a strong instinct, being the first to hear or sense an enemy approaching. His speed is also exceptional. Though his leg strength is nothing compared to Sanji, he is strong in that aspect and can jump long distances.
He is loyal to his crew, and even exchanged his own life for Luffy's at Thriller Bark, though miraculously survived the ordeal.
He has a tendency to pick fights with Sanji and make fun of him any chance he gets.
Zoro is commonly described as a Demon.
Background:
As a child, Zoro trained in a Dojo in Shimotsuki village. Even as a child, he was strong enough to beat adults in battle, however, the one person he could't beat was his childhood friend and rival, Kuina. The two fought 2001 times, and each time, Zoro was defeated by the girl. After losing the final fight, Zoro told her his dream of being the worlds greatest swordsman, and after hearing it, Kuina confided in him, telling him that she had the dream but couldn't attain it because she was a girl and girls could not be trues swordsmasters because as their bodys matured, their fighting skill would decrease. This was told by her father.
After hearing this, Zoro argued that he would beat her because he was more skilled, not because she was a girl, and after that, the two vowed that one of them would become the worlds best swordsman. The next day, Kuina died falling down the stairs, and thus began Zoro's quest to fulfill his promise.
Knowing that defeating Mihawk would make him the strongest swordsman, Zoro set off to sea in search of him. Along the way, he turned in pirates to gain their bounties, thus earning his title, Pirate Hunter. Before joining Luffy's Crew, he was offered a job at Baroque Works because of his reputation, which he refused.
After being freed from a Marine Base, he joined Luffy, claiming that it was only so he could accomplish his goal, and he clrealy warned that should this in any way keep him from completing it, Luffy would have to end his own life by Zoro's sword.
Shortly after joining, Zoro gets the opportunity to fight Mihawk, and loses, barely escaping with his life and one of his swords. From that point on, Zoro swore to never lose to another swordsman again.
While travelling with Luffy, he defeated multiple powerful foes, earning himself a bounty and the title of 'Demon'.
Since joining the Straw Hats, Zoro has had to replace three swords: His two unnamed Katana's from fighting Mihawk, and Yubashiri while in Thriller Bark.
He has proven that he would risk his life for his captain on several occasions, and even puts his own life into Luffy's hands. This is proven most recently, and most detailed when in Thriller Bark. After attacking and defeating one of the Shichibukai, Moria, Zoro and the Straw Hat crew are faced with yet another, Kumo, who has come to destroy the Straw Hats and anyone else on Thriller Bark who witnessed the defeat. After fighting Zoro, Kumo makes a proposal: He'll take Luffy and let the rest of the Straw Hats live. The crew refuses, and Kumo makes an explosion with the intention to kill them all.
Thinking the crew is dead, he goes to take Luffy, at which point Zoro strikes him. He asks that Kumo takes his life instead of Luffy, and the Shichibukai agrees, taking all of Luffy's pain and fatigue and transferring it to Zoro. Zoro miraculously survives, though is knocked out for two days, and keeps the details of what happened from his captain after waking up.
He is currently one of the Eleven Supernova's, which consists of eleven pirates with bounties over 100,000,000 Belies, Luffy is another of those members. Zoro's current bounty is 120,000,000 Belies.
Physical Appearance:
Zoro is never seen without his three swords in close proximity, whether they be by his side of strapped to his green sash. He wears three gold ear rings on his left ear and keeps his black bandana strapped around his left arm when not using it during a fight.
His hair is green, and cut short, and his eyes are black. He stands at about 5'10. His clothing varies depending on the location, but he is most commonly seen in a white t-shirt, dark green pants, black boots, and a light green sash around his waist.
He has many scars on his body, the most noticeable one being the one across his chest from his dual with Mihawk.
